The Observatory of the Ibero-American Bioethics Network (ORIBI), promoted by the Anahuac Center for Strategic Development in Bioethics (CADEBI), has established itself as a key platform to address ethical challenges in areas such as health equity, environmental ethics and artificial intelligence applied to biomedicine.
Using the Logical Framework Methodology (LFM), ORIBI has developed important tools, such as the Ibero-American Atlas of Bioethics and a system of indicators designed to monitor and link bioethical initiatives in the region.
As part of the results presented by CADEBI, a remarkable diversity of bioethics observatories in Ibero-America was identified, with approaches that combine disciplines such as ethics, law, medicine and social sciences. While many observatories have made significant contributions on relevant issues such as medical technology, environmental ethics, and health equity, there was evidence of fragmentation in efforts, a lack of systematic collaboration between institutions, and challenges in accessing key information. These limitations have restricted the impact of these initiatives in the region.
In response to these challenges, performance indicators are proposed for ORIBI, which include the creation of the Ibero-American Atlas of Bioethics, designed to centralize information and measure progress in management, training, and linkage between institutions. The indicators also highlight the number of participating institutions, courses incorporated and identified, and the periodic updating of data. In addition, it is intended to measure the impact of the interactive platform on the generation of interdisciplinary and networked work, evaluating participation and the creation of new opportunities for collaboration.
ORIBI seeks to add efforts to the achievements of other bioethics observatories in the region to consolidate dispersed efforts and promote interdisciplinarity. With its focus on strengthening work networks, disseminating knowledge and generating spaces for dialogue, this Observatory is positioned as a strategic bridge to address the most urgent ethical challenges with the purpose of strengthening the bioethical culture in Ibero-America, making it a central axis for ethical decision-making and social transformation.
