On January 9, 2025, the XVIII Virtual Symposium of the Peruvian Network of Personalist Bioethics (RPBP) was held, entitled "Global Bioethics, a new paradigm?", an event that was attended by Monsignor Alberto Bochatey, auxiliary bishop of La Plata and expert in this discipline, and Dr. David Cerdio Domínguez, General Coordinator of the Anahuac Center for Strategic Development in Bioethics (CADEBI).
Monsignor Bochatey, recognized for his extensive career in this field, provided a profound perspective on global bioethics as a possible new paradigm. In addition, he stressed the relevance of integrating universal ethical principles with local particularities, emphasizing the need for intercultural dialogue that enriches ethical understanding in diverse contexts. Finally, he highlighted the responsibility of academic and religious institutions in the training of professionals capable of facing current bioethical challenges.
Dr. Cerdio Domínguez presented a paper focused on contemporary challenges by addressing issues such as the need to establish universal ethical frameworks that respect cultural diversity and the ethical implications of technological advances in medicine. He also stressed the importance of promoting human dignity and justice in access to health care.
It should be noted that this event allowed CADEBI to strengthen ties with various academic institutions in Ibero-America, since it was attended by representatives from Chile, Argentina, Peru and Mexico, thus evidencing the joint effort in the promotion of the dignity of the human person and in the construction of a bioethics with a global approach.
Undoubtedly, the XVIII Virtual Symposium of the RPBP was consolidated as a space for reflection and dialogue on this discipline at a global level, by promoting international collaboration and commitment to an ethics that responds to the challenges of the contemporary world.
