From Thursday, August 29 to Sunday, September 1, 2024, a group of librarians from our Library's Public Services and Collection Development areas visited the International Comics Fair (FICÓMICS), held at the University Cultural Complex in Puebla. This event, organized by the General Directorate of Libraries of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP), has been consolidated for more than a decade as a space that brings together prominent comic artists, exhibitors, cosplayers, gamers, dubbing actors and many other personalities from the world of comics.

FICÓMICS also seeks to promote reading through this graphic medium, offering lectures, workshops, exhibitions and contests that seek to bring creators closer to their readers. This year, the event was attended by 48 exhibitors, who had the opportunity to present their work and projects at the stands.

The presence of the Anahuac University Library in FICÓMICS 2024 has a special meaning, as it seeks to establish connections focused on the world of comics that allow the implementation of new strategies to promote reading in our community. Thanks to the close support of Mtro. Alfredo Avendaño, director of BUAP Puebla, and Ulises Vázquez, head of the comic book library at the BUAP Library, this event becomes a unique opportunity to explore the acquisition of comic book copies, along with the organization of events related to this fascinating universe.
Our radio program, Bibliohertz, broadcast live throughout the event with capsules and interviews with participants.
Among the objectives of the Anahuac Library is the continuous innovation and promotion of reading in creative and attractive ways for our entire community. Participation in FICÓMIC 2024 reinforces our commitment to culture and education, opening new doors for learning and entertainment through comics and other forms of graphic expression.
