On February 19, 2025, CADEBI (Anáhuac Center for Strategic Development in Bioethics Anáhuac) held a special session of the BINCA (Anáhuac Clinical Bioethics Neuroethics) program, entitled "Bioethics and Artificial Intelligence" presented by Dr. María Elizabeth de los Ríos, research coordinator of the School of Bioethics, where she addressed the emerging ethical challenges that arise from the advancement of Artificial Intelligence in the health field.
During her presentation, Dr. De los Rios reflected on how Artificial Intelligence is changing medicine and the challenges this entails. She spoke about the importance of preventing AI from generating inequality in medical care and stressed the need to maintain humane treatment between doctor and patient.
She also discussed the issue of security in the use of AI, liability in case of errors and the creation of measures to protect information, closing the conference with a reflection on the use of tools provided by Artificial Intelligence, which should be used as a support for doctors and not, as well as a replacement for them.
Dr. Maria Elizabeth concludes that artificial intelligence is of great help as long as it is used responsibly, prioritizing people's well-being and ensuring that it contributes to continuously improving the quality of people's health care.
