Anáhuac, headquarters of the Conference of the International Federation of Personalistic Bioethics

Anahuac University Mexico, through the Anahuac Center for Strategic Development in Bioethics (CADEBI), hosted the Assembly of the International Federation of Personalist Bioethics (FIBIP) from October 10 to 12, 2023, founded by Monsignor Elio Sgreccia in 2003, with the theme 'Personalism is Change: Dialogue with Science and Culture.

From October 25 to 27, the 14th Latin American Congress of Bioethics 'Mental Health and Palliative Care' was held at the Pontifical Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia.

Alberto García and Antonio Cabrera participate in the International Congress “Global Bioethics and its impact in the 21st Century”

During the General Assembly, the current executive committee, consisting of Dr. Gerardo Perazzo (President), Dr. Antonio Cabrera (Vice President), Dr. Fernando Arroyo (Secretary), Dr. Miguel Suazo (Treasurer), and Dr. Jorge Ferrer (Past President), was unanimously reelected.

CADEBI holds its semi-annual meeting with its advisory board

On October 17, 2023, the semi-annual meeting of the Advisory Board of the Anáhuac Center for Strategic Development in Bioethics (CADEBI) took place, with the participation of advisors from countries such as Spain, Italy, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Argentina, and Mexico. During this meeting, the advances and achievements of CADEBI during its first year of activities were presented. An analysis was carried out in line with the strategic lines of work, focusing on promoting national and international connections.

On September 20th, within the framework of the First International Congress of Bioethics “Global Bioethics and its impact in the 21st Century”, Dr. Alberto García Gómez, dean of the Faculty of Bioethics of the Ateneo Pontificio Regina Apostolorum, and chairholder of the Chair UNESCO Bioethics and Human Rights, gave the keynote presentation “Bioethics: a common ground for dialogue”, in which he reflected on the importance of promoting a culture that seeks convergences instead of emphasizing divergences.

The Anahuac Center for Strategic Development in Bioethics (CADEBI) participated as a member of the organizing committee of the First International Bioethics Congress "Global Bioethics and Its Impact in the 21st Century", an event organized by the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ). This event provided a space for dialogue and collaboration among prominent figures in Bioethics from various institutions.

On September 1st 2023, the BINCA interest group (Clinical Bioethics and Anáhuac Neuroethics) held the first session of the August-December semester, titled “What do we know about brain death?” This event included the participation of Dr. Yael Zonenszain, who has a Doctorate in Bioethics, (gen. '18) and Dr. José Damián Carrillo, founder of said group.

On October 10, 2023, the BINCA interest group (Clinical Bioethics and Neuroethics Anáhuac) held its second session of the semester titled "Beyond Advance Directives." This event featured the participation of Dr. Elvira Llaca and Dr. Angélica Laurent, experts in bioethics. During the session, students and academics interested in the bioethical and biolegal implications of advance directives, especially in the context of palliative care.
